Gift of Giving - Mini-libraries for our residential houses
Reading plays a huge part in the lives of our students at Treloar’s. Through reading and listening, every student has a chance to develop culturally, emotionally, intellectually, socially and spiritually. Due to the complexity of our students’ disabilities it is unlikely that they will be able to pick up a book and simply read it like we do, however this does not stop them and reading is in fact one of the most popular activities that the students take part in at Treloar’s. A donation would help stock a portable unit on one of the residential houses with a variety of books appropriate to the age and ability of the students. As well as literature, the mini-library will also have Tablets so that students can access audio books, games, music, DVDs, sensory equipment and props. Each mini-library will rotate around the houses each term so that the students can access new and different resources on a regular basis.
